According to the latest wave of New York Knicks trade rumors, the team does not want to risk losing a point guard this season and are making sure that despite its current PG assets, the Knicks are signing one more.

New York has excellent point guards in newly acquired Derrick Rose, and Brendan Jennings. However, despite their talents, their performances last season were marred by injury.

It is undeniable that Rose has shown signs of durability in recent games while an Achilles tear has definitely made Jennings a big fragile.

This is what the Knicks are reportedly preparing for, as per trade rumors. In the event that the two experience health issues again, the team would want to be ready.

According to Tommy Beer of Basketball Insiders, the team can rectify this by looking into acquiring the best unemployed point guards in the business. There are a lot of them to choose from.

Topping the list is Mario Chalmers, who Beer said is the most accomplished point guard still looking for a home. However, the analyst says that Kirk Hinrich will be a better with the Big Apple-based team.

After all, he has worked with Rose and knows how to back him up. His last season numbers also make him a catch (39 percent from three point territory) so the Knicks could opt for Hinrich.

The Knicks can also take advantage of Nate Robinson's hunger to be back in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and his obvious talent, having put out impressive numbers in Israel last season.

New York is adamant to polish its roster as much as possible and take advantage of its biggest trades and additions this summer. However, Knicks guard Courtney Lee is confident of the team's lineup already.

"We're contenders, man. They didn't make the playoffs last year, but we're looking to change that and win big. The ring is the ultimate goal for everybody on the team; I know it is for me," he told Basketball Insiders.

"We're trying to get the Knicks back into the playoffs and win big. Everybody is hungry and everybody has their own motivation or chip on their shoulder. We just need to come together, get that chemistry and see it click. Once everybody is together and everybody is hungry, I think we can be very scary," he went on to say.

It remains to be seen if another point guard will help accomplish their goal this year.
