One of the biggest Android news to hit this month is the one about Google stopping the sales of the Nexus 5 on the Google Store. In a story from The Verge, a Google spokesperson said that "while some inventory of Nexus 5 still exists (with our retail and carrier partners), our focus is on the Nexus 6 at this time." The older model is indeed erased from the phone list on Google's new device store. 

This move by Google confirms reports made late last year that the company already stopped the production of the 2014 Android flagship phone. It was further reported that the tech firm is just waiting for the stocks to dwindle and be depleted. 

The Nexus 5 is touted to be the best Android smartphone ever produced. According to Android fans, the phone's 4.95-inch display is just the right fit for a user's hand, striking a balance between a too-small predecessor, the Nexus 4, and a too-big Nexus 6. Also, the interface, being stock Android, is free from bloatware and gets its update much quicker than others. 

Meanwhile, it is unclear if Google is already giving up on the Nexus 5. There are still reports that the company is mulling over an idea to revive the smartphone and give it an upgrade. According to rumors, Google is planning to come out with two new Nexus phones this year, one to be the successor to the Nexus 6, and the other one, an improved version of the Nexus 5. 

This year's Nexus 5 is said to come from China-based Huawei, and already confirmed in a Chinese tech news site. According to a report from the International Business Times, analyst Kevin Yang from iSuppli claims that Huawei's version of the Nexus 5 will run the new version of Android named Android M. Huawei might also push to use its proprietary Kirin chipset in place of Qualcomm for the second generation Nexus 5.
