Google has already launched the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow. To celebrate the event, the tech giant also announced that with the new platform will come new additions to its own Nexus lineup of smartphones. Google launched the new Nexus 5X and 6P, with the new Android version coming right out of their boxes.

Both smartphones are considered by industry observers as the next flagships of the Nexus lineup. Made by different tech manufacturers, how will the Nexus 5X and 6P compare to each other?

Design

One of the most noted differences between the two is their design. In terms of dimensions, the Nexus 5X made by South Korea-based LG Electronics is of course smaller than the Huawei-made 6P. The flagship by LG has a 5.2-inch footprint, smaller than the 5.7-inch dimensions of the 6P. Meanwhile, although both smartphones are considered as flagships, their chassis and form factors are also different. The Nexus 5X is made of hard plastic, while the more premium 6P has an aluminum chassis.

Display

Although the Nexus 5X is targeted as a midrange smartphone, LG still features above-average specs in the device. For the display, the new 5X has a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display, with full HD 1080p resolution. Meanwhile, the premium flagship that is the Nexus 6P also has premium specs starting with its display. It has a dazzling and crisp AMOLED display, and the 5.7-inch screen has 2K resolution.

Under the hood

Google is known to provide a variant of tech lineups, and this is also true with the Nexus flagships. This time, the two smartphones cater to both midrange casual users, and the more tech-savvy, premium smartphone owners.

Although a midrange handset, the 5X is adequately equipped to handle above-average performance. It is run by a Snapdragon 808 processor, with 2 GB of RAM. The more premium 6P, on the other hand, performs much better since it has the updated Snapdragon 810 chipset, partnered with 3 GB of RAM. However, although some specs differ, Google made sure that both smartphones offer almost the same cutting-edge features that will make the flagships stand out. The two Nexus phones offer the Nexus Imprint fingerprint scanner, front-facing speakers, and USB Type-C connectivity, as well as the Android 6.0 environment.
