A new rumour has made rounds online about an inside source from Nintendo saying that the upcoming Nintendo NX will be as powerful as the Xbox One.

According to Nintendo Enthusiast, an inside tipster has said that the Nintendo NX will be competing with Microsoft's Xbox One in terms of raw power. The source also goes on to add that the company is planning to introduce the NX at a cheaper price point than the Microsoft gaming console to make it more enticing to buyers.

The Xbox One is currently selling at $299, so if the NX could get any cheaper than that it would be one of the most affordable entertainment systems in the market.

While rumours have been that the NX will be showcased in a closed-door presentation at CES 2016, the company behind the console continues to maintain secrecy and vagueness. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata stresses that official statements will only be made in the turn of 2016.

"As proof that Nintendo maintains strong enthusiasm for the dedicated game system business, let me confirm that Nintendo is currently developing a dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept under the development codename NX," Iwata said. "It is too early to elaborate on the details of this project."

Analyst Michael Pachter however believes that the device will not be ready until 2016 ends, saying in one of his video episodes for Pachter Factor that he has reliable sources inside that would have informed him if the NX is close to completion.

According to leaked patents he upcoming Nintendo gaming console will be a cross of a mobile and home entertainment and gaming console. There are also several speculations noting that the console will have a cloud-based technology that will improve the power of the product, and a social sharing capability that will allow users to show not just accomplishments but also how they succeeded in getting them.
