The gaming world might see the long-awaited Nintendo NX in the flesh as early as next month, during the Gamescom convention.

Nintendo will be one of the companies that will attend the event, which will be held in Cologne, Germany on August 17 to 21.

According to Digital Trends, it is very likely that the Nintendo NX will be unveiled this August since Nintendo's Gamecube was released in this month back in 2000.

However, the Wii and the Wii U were both launched at Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3. Nintendo NX was supposed to debut at this year's E3, but Nintendo chose to wait.

According to reports, the company did not want to show off the console early enough that competition will steal their design ideas.

As fans already know, Sony and Microsoft are both releasing brand new consoles in the coming months and the companies made the announcement at E3 last month.

The former is working on Xbox One S, a smaller but upgraded version of the Xbox One and Project Scorpio, which will be released next year. The latter is set to release the PlayStation Neo.

Meanwhile, there's new information going around about the Nintendo NX. It involves a new patent the company filed that features a controller believed to be for the Nintendo NX.

The patent is for a touchscreen handheld gaming device that features a vibration system with built-in speakers. It sports traditional face buttons as well as a d-pad and a circle pad.

It is unknown what Nintendo plans to use it for, but it is believed it could be the controller for the Nintendo NX, if not a successor to the Nintendo 3DS.

At the moment, little is known about the Nintendo NX. If Nintendo showcases the console at the Gamescom event, more information about it should be revealed.
