Nintendo fans may not have to wait long to finally get their first look at the new NX console.

According to the New Daily, Nintendo is reportedly planning to showcase the new console during the Consumer Electronics Show, otherwise known as CES.

The event is already underway in Las Vegas, and if the rumors prove to be true, then Nintendo could be setting itself up to dominate the first month of headlines within the gaming industry.

As of now, there's still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the NX console, and others are far more skeptical of the possibility that Nintendo's new hardware offering could actually make it to the marketplace this year.

Just last month, Games Industry asked a variety of video game industry analysts about their takes on the Nintendo NX, and some of them were not quite as optimistic about the console being able to be launched this year.

According to Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities, he believes that the new console might be announced this year, but that Nintendo will ultimately opt to launch it in 2017.

Another video game industry analyst, Billy Pidgeon, was more optimistic about the possibility that the NX could be launched in 2016. Pidgeon believes that the NX could be released sometime in 2016, although he admits that Nintendo would probably be better served to hold off on doing that for now. According to Pidgeon, the ideal thing for Nintendo to do is to release the new NX console at the point in time in which they already have numerous quality games they can entice fans with.

The only thing seemingly certain for now is that Nintendo will be talking more about the NX console in 2016, but whether all of that leads to an eventual launch within the same calendar year remains to be seen, and it should become one of the more fascinating stories to follow.
