'No Man's Sky' release date, specs, features: Game's release approaches as new gameplay footage surfaces online

Hello Games

Fans have been anticipating the much-rumored "No Man's Sky" for months now, and the mid-year release approaches fast. Although the game has been previously delayed, the new June outing seems to be the finalized one, as a new gameplay footage surfaces online.

In the new video, developer Hello Games' founder Sean Murray is seen explaining how "No Man's Sky" works to gamer Anthony Carboni. Posting on the US Playstation blog, Murray said that the "hands-on review" from a fellow gamer is breath of fresh air, but still solidifies previous positive reviews from established industry observers.

The studio founder stated, "Last month saw the biggest reveal for the game since our nerve-wracking debut at the VGX Awards. We showed a small demo to hundreds of journalists from around the world, who called the game 'breathtakingly beautiful' and "insanely exciting.' It was lovely to show the game to real people, and see so many gamers play in so many different ways (And be surprised by what they discovered!)."

The new gameplay footage highlights the already-revealed notion in "No Man's Sky" – players will have to discover, gather resources, and ultimately tame previously-unexplored environments. With Murray doing the commentary, Carboni then tried to navigate the game himself, resulting in a "rampage". While this may seem to be just a banter, the actions in the footage highlights how massive "No Man's Sky" can be, since it involved exploring and charting unknown worlds. It also shows how the game is simple and complex at the same time, an open world where at one point, players can pretty much do whatever they want. The other end of the spectrum is that "No Man's Sky" is also for hardcore exploration and role-playing gamers who want to make their mark in the game's universe.

"No Man's Sky" releases for the PlayStation 4 and PC on June 21.
