Nokia 8 news, update: HMD confirms availability of Android Oreo 8.1 for Nokia 8
HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas confirmed last Feb. 13 that Nokia 8 users can now get the Android Oreo 8.1 on their devices. It only took a few weeks before Nokia was able to get the official update.
A few weeks ago, Nokia tested their Nokia 8 device on the beta version of Android Oreo 8.1. Now that the update for the Android OS is official as announced in Twitter, it is expected the the updated OS can bring significant improvements to the device's performance.

According to Android Police, the total size of the update is around 1.5 GB and brings battery percentage feedback to all Bluetooth devices, a correct emoji for the hamburger, ability to resume a backup after initial setup and other improvements on the aesthetics of the power menu.
The update will also bring a new setting menu and an updated Google Security patch. It can only be downloaded using Wi-Fi with a total size of 1562.7 MB.
Last year, Sarvikas confirmed on Twitter that they will be upgrading all their Nokia smartphones, including the Nokia 3 to Android Oreo. As of the moment, there is no confirmed date for the remaining releases.

It was September 2017 when the Nokia 8 was officially launched carrying the Android Nougat 7.1.1 version. Two months after, it received the Android Oreo 8.0 OS before finally updated to the latest 8.1 version.
