Operation Mobilisation’s newest and largest vessel, Logos Hope, has arrived in the UK and with the cost of fuel now much lower than a year ago, OM is launching an appeal to help fill up the ship’s fuel tanks.

Fuel not only provides the means of moving from destination to destination, but is also vital in port for the generators that supply the vessel’s energy.

Each year, over one million people step on board OM’s vessels and are deeply impacted by God's love through the educational and Christian literature in the book fair or onboard teaching conferences.

After making visits to Edinburgh and Belfast this month, the vessel will move to Cardiff at the end of May and London in June. Logos Hope will then cross the Atlantic and the crew will assist needy communities in St Vincent and the Caribbean region.

“My ministry is with students, Bible seminaries and counselling,” says Brother Paul Duncan, President of Ministries in Action for St Vincent.

“I am excited about Logos Hope coming. On board I will be able to get books that we need for our students. Such resources are very limited here.”

On the other side of the world, OM’s Doulos ship has a similarly busy schedule for 2009, serving impoverished port communities in the Philippines and Cambodia.

OM International Co-ordinator Peter Maiden is also highlighting the urgent need for funds to purchase fuel, saying that “the unique potential of the new Logos Hope to touch millions of lives and reach the hurting and hungry with a message of hope is brought to life with gifts to this appeal.”
