"Once Upon a Time" season 5 is set to take place in Camelot which explains ABC's casting call for actors to portray Merlin, King Arthur, and Guinevere. In addition, Entertainment Weekly has reported that actor Sinqua Walls will be brought back as Sir Lancelot.

"Oh man, you can't go to Camelot and not see Lancelot," explained executive producer Edward Kitsis.

There is a question, however, on how the character is going to be presented in the series. Lancelot was killed off in season 2 when Cora (Barbara Hershey) allegedly killed him in order to use his appearance. She then used this guise to escape the Enchanted Forest.

The report points out that Lancelot's body was never shown onscreen, hinting that he may have survived the attack. Enstarz, on the other hand, surmises that it is also quite possible that Lancelot is only going to make an appearance via flashback. This might make sense since the theme of season 5 is allegedly about redemption, particularly about Emma's (Jennifer Morrison) redemption from the dark side, so Guinevere and Arthur's story arc might also focus on finding redemption following Guinevere's infidelity with Lancelot.

Zap2It cites that Emma will be tainted by the dark side for some time and that the main focus of the season is finding a way to bring her back to the light. Actress Jennifer Morrison told People that she had been to the New York Public Library's rare books section, reading up on darker versions of numerous fairy tales that could serve as her inspiration for "Dark Emma."

It is useful to note that most fairy tale stories are based on a collection of folklore tales first gathered and published by the Grimm brothers. The versions of their bedtime stories are quite dark and often bloody, and these tales have been altered throughout the years to become more child-friendly.

"Once Upon a Time" season 5 is set to premiere this fall.
