'One Piece: Burning Blood' release date: Title to befirst 'One Piece' game for Xbox One

Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe

Fans of the wandering Straw Hat Pirates are in for a treat after Bandai Namco announced that "One Piece: Burning Blood" will be making its way to western shores next year.

According to the game giant, "One Piece: Burning Blood" will have a 2016 release date for the Playstation 4, Playstation Vita, and as a surprise, the Xbox One. The last console came as a surprise because this will mark the first time that a game based on the hugely popular and long-running "One Piece" franchise will make it to the Microsoft console.

Although already announced to be coming first to Japan, and then to North America, Europe, Africa, and Australasia, the title has yet to find its release dates per territory, and Bandai Namco has not hinted on  a 2016 release window.

According to IBTimes, "One Piece: Burning Blood" seems to be a one-on-one fighting game, much different from previous "One Piece" titles like the most recent "One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3." Not surprisingly, fans will still be able to associate the upcoming title closely with the "One Piece" world because the features unique to the series will be present.

"Speaking of which, Logia Devil Fruits and 'Haki' can be used to throw massive special moves and take down the fiercest opponents!" the game publisher said.

According to Hervé Hoerdt, vice president for marketing and digital at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, "One Piece: Burning Blood" is more of a product of fans' expectations rather than the studio's. "Meeting our fans on public & private events is a good way to get feedback on our games and see what the expectations are. 'One Piece: Burning Blood' is the perfect example of us creating a game impeccably in-line with fans' desires," he said.
