Regarding Luffy, a report from Mobi Picker points out that it took all of Luffy's abilities just to destroy one of Cracker's armors. In order to turn the tables and get on the winning side, he is speculated to activate Gear Fifth in order to beat the enemy and get to Sanji in time.
