Mobile phone manufacturer OnePlus will be releasing the OnePlus Two smartphone later this year. But because the China-based company opted to not follow the launch schedule of the original OnePlus One, which it announced in April last year, several news sources reported that this year's model is delayed. However, company co-founder Carl Pei said that these reports about an alleged delay are not true.

In a Twitter post, he said, "OnePlus 2 is not delayed. I've said it again and again: don't get your news from these insanely crap sources."

He further clarified that "nothing has changed" and that the launch is "Still Q3." 

This means that the company planned on letting the world see the much-awaited OnePlus Two sometime from July to September.

There are no details yet on how different the new smartphone will be from its predecessor, but based on observers, the OnePlus Two would need higher specs in order to duke it out with this year's flagship models from the company's competitors. With the release of Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, and reports of LG coming out with their G4, and even rumors about Apple's next iPhone line-up, OnePlus would indeed need to strike a balance between premium design and a better-than-most hardware specs in order to topple the competition.

According to reports, the new OnePlus Two will have a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, a new Snapdragon 810 chipset, an impressive 4 GB RAM, and a 3300 mAh battery housed in an all-metal casing. It will also reportedly run on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, which is still unconfirmed as the company has just recently released its own OxygenOS. Moreover, according to a Reddit session with the company's marketing director David Sanmartin, the new device will not feature a removable battery nor microSD support.

According to GizChina, the new OnePlus Two will carry a $435 price tag.
