The most dreaded battle that Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) had been trying to prevent is about to commence in the penultimate episode of "Outlander" season 2.

In a sneak peek for the episode titled "The Hail Mary" posted by Vanity Fair, the Fraser couple and their loyal ally Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) are seen discussing the imminent battle that will happen in Culloden Moor.

All three of them know that the Jacobite army will be on the losing end in that upcoming battle because of Claire's knowledge of history. This is why they have to make a final effort to prevent the battle from happening to save thousands of lives and the Highland culture.

The trailer for the episode also showed that Claire will have another encounter with their mortal enemy, Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies). Will she stop her husband again from killing the direct descendant of Frank, who happens to be her other husband from the 20th century?

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly featured the first glimpse of two highly significant characters from Diana Gabaldon's novels, who will make their debut in the finale episode of "Outlander" season 2.

Viewers will finally meet Jamie and Claire's grown up daughter Brianna Randall, who will be portrayed by Sophie Skelton. She will be introduced with the grown up version of Roger Wakefield, the adopted son of Reverend Wakefield (James Fleet). Roger will be portrayed by actor Richard Rankin.

The actors revealed their excitement about the introduction of their characters in the story.

"I really think what we care most about is whether people are going to be happy with these characters that they've been waiting two years for," Rankin told Radio Times.

Meanwhile, Skelton explained why they chose to modify Brianna's accent in the TV adaptation of the "Outlander" novels.

"It's a scary thought because of things like the fact that Brianna's from Boston, but we decided not to go with a Boston accent," the actress explained."We just assumed that given how she was raised in a private Catholic school in the '60s, she sort of had any Boston drummed out of her and she'd be a standard American."

The penultimate episode of "Outlander" season 2 airs June 25 on Starz.
