Parents Who Forgave Son's Killers Continue to Testify

|TOP|The parents who forgave the murderers of their teenage son four years ago continue to share their testimony today.

18-year-old Christopher Donovan was walking along the Kingston Road in Ewell to his home with his his brother and friends at the beginning of a May bank holiday weekend, when they were set upon by a gang of boys.

The teenager died of his injuries as he was attacked, beaten, and run over by a car. At that time, his parents hit the headlines, when they forgave his killers and found a divine purpose in telling their story to others.

Ray and Vi Donovan, Christopher’s parents, soon founded Forgiveness Ministries, where they operate a God-inspired mission, travelling the country to help those locked without knowing forgiveness. Since then, the Donovans have spoken regularly at churches throughout the UK, on television and radio here and abroad and via their website.

|AD|Recently, the Donovans visited Downview women's prison in Banstead to take part in The Sycamore Tree Programme - a values-based victim awareness programme that uses restorative justice principles. The programme enables adult prisoners and young offenders to understand the damage their crime has caused to victims, families and the community.

"We have just finished doing our third programme with the Prison Fellowship and we must say it has taught us a lot," he added in icSurrey.

The Donovans were also asked to give their testimony and talk on forgiveness at the Sunday Service at High Down Men's Prison.

Ray said: "All we can say is that as we talked you could have heard a pin drop. No one said a word, not even a whisper and at the end of the service nearly everyone of the men came up to us to say thank you. Some were crying."

"We never thought we would be going into prisons and doing this kind of work."

"We considered it an absolute privilege," added Vi.

The couple's mission to testify on 'forgiveness' continues as they plan to travel to Australia and America, where they've been corresponding with others on the path.
