Senior pastor of Hillsong Church New York Carl Lentz thinks a lot of Christians are making a mountain out of a molehill when it comes to the lack of Christmas designs in Starbucks' holiday cups this year.

"I think it's weird when Christians freak out about stuff like that. I don't know why we get so shaky when the world is the world," he said during an interview with The Christian Post. "The whole thing about Starbucks, I'm like, why are we getting mad at Starbucks for being Starbucks? When did they take a vow to make Starbucks be about Christianity and our view about Christmas?"

Lentz said that different people have different ways of celebrating holidays, and Starbucks' approach this year should not be misconstrued as a war on Christmas.

"In my house, Christmas is about when we celebrate who we believe God to be and people can do what they want. I think that if you're secure in your faith, you have room to allow people to be people and not make a fight about everything," he said.

Lentz is known to be a pastor for celebrities since he is a close friend of such popular figures as Canadian pop star Justin Bieber and NBA stars Jeremy Lin and Kevin Durant.

Although he knows some people attend Hillsong Church services just so they can make celebrity sightings, Lentz believes that many stay with the church because of the spiritual awakening the church help them goes through.

"They find out pretty quick that our church is not going to be about that. You might come for Bieber but you're not going to stay for Bieber," he said. "99 percent of Hillsong church is not famous and that's who we are."
