The organisers of Pentecost Festival, one of the largest annual Christian events in the UK, are encouraging Christians to pursue the same principles as the new coalition Government.  

The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats yesterday placed freedom, fairness and responsibility at the heart of their administration as they sought to reassure the public that the country's first coalition government since World War II would work.

Pentecost Festival director Andy Frost said, “The principles of freedom, fairness and responsibility that have been announced from Westminster are the same three principles that we are celebrating during the festival.”

Thousands of Christians are expected to take part in Pentecost Festival when it hits London from 18 to 23 May.  

The annual event, now in its third year, brings together Christians from across the denominations in mission and evangelism in the heart of the capital.

More than 100 events are set to take place in night clubs, theatres, cinemas and public squares in celebration of the birth of the church.

Events include the first UK showing of Call and Response, a film by Justin Dillon looking at human trafficking and the role of Christians in freeing the millions of men, women and children trafficked each year. The screening will be hosted by CARE and joined by Dillon.

The Generate Justice event will see hundreds of young people head to Westminster to pray and campaign for a fairer world, and to call on the Government to support reform of the international tax system.
