Phoenix Suns trade news 2015: Markieff Morris may leave after twin brother traded to Pistons

Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris no longer wants to play for the team after they traded his twin brother, Marcus Morris, to the Detroit Pistons earlier this offseason.

The Morris twins have played together since high school until their time in Kansas; and although they were drafted by different teams in 2011, Marcus joined Markieff in Phoenix via a trade deal from the Houston Rockets during the 2012–13 season.

In the peak of free agency this offseason, Marcus together with veteran Danny Granger and Reggie Bullock were shipped to Detroit for a 2020 second-round pick.

According to a report by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Morris twins believe the trade deal was accomplished to create some cap space for the Suns' attempt to sign All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge who was then a free agent and later signed with the San Antonio Spurs.

The twins felt betrayed and disrespected by the move after all the sacrifices they have made for the Suns including taking less money after signing four-year extension deals last September 2014.

Markieff told the Philadelphia Inquirer, "One thing for sure, I am not going to be there. If you want to put that out there, you can put that out. I don't give a [freak]. I am not going to be there at all. That's just what it is."

Despite the feelings they have against the Suns, Markieff said he will be reporting in their training camp in September if he is still with the Suns by that time.

Markieff also said that their case before regarding an assault outside a recreation center in Phoenix was not the reason why Marcus was traded.

"They can tell you anything about the case and all of that. It has nothing to do with that. That's just all disrespect and all unprofessional. They called us unprofessional. That's what that is, unprofessional. No one is trying to hear that," he explained.

Meanwhile, Marcus said he can play on his own it is just that he feels really disrespected on what happened.

"What we did for the Suns, the pay cuts we took and for them to trade me without consent is what made me more disappointed and is what made me more upset," Marcus stated in the report.

Markieff shared to the Philadelphia Inquirer that he and Marcus were informed of the trade while they were in an out of country vacation.
