'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' news: Bluehole and Tencent to introduce a mobile version of PUBG in China

The online battle royale video game "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" is coming to mobile devices in China. Bluehole Studio Inc. has teamed up with Chinese video game company Tencent to introduce the game to smartphones.

The announcement was made by Tencent's official website on Nov. 27. The article also includes a joint statement from PUBG's CEO Kim Changhan and Tencent's Senior Vice President Ma Xiaoyi. The statement reads, "Thanks to the excellent accumulation of PUBG on the PC terminal and the teamwork between the two teams. The progress of the mobile game preparation is very smooth and in the near future, Chinese players can enjoy the genuine game anytime, anywhere on the mobile phone."

The report also indicates that over 21 million copies of "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" were sold worldwide. The goal of Tencent and Bluehole is to bring a new mobile experience to gamers.

There is still no official release date of the PUBG game for smartphones and what operating system it will support. Tencent also promised that the PUBG PC experience will be replicated to the mobile phone version. Tencent and Bluehole have not released any information if the game will be made available to other countries.

"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" is about to exit its early access phase. The official release of the game will be on Dec. 12. BlueHole also released new images and information about the new desert map for the video game.

The early access version of the game received fairly good reviews from video game critics. Tom's Guide gave the game an 8 out of 10 score and 3.5 out of 5 from PCMag.

"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" organizer Geoff Keighley had announced that the first desert map gameplay will be released on Dec. 7 ahead of the release of the game on Dec. 12. Keighley made the announcement on Twitter, "Don't miss the first-ever gameplay of the new desert map from @PUBATTLEGROUNDS live during @thegameawards on Thursday," he wrote.
