After unveiling the launch of the slimmer PlayStation 4 and the new PS4 Pro, Sony also brushed on several new details on the upcoming PlayStation VR headset.

According to the announcement during Sony's PlayStation meeting in New York on Wednesday, the PlayStation VR will come out with a demo disc that features eight exciting titles upon the device's release on Oct. 13.

The demo disc, which will come free with each PlayStation VR, will include the following games:

  • DRIVECLUB VR – Evolution Studios
  • RIGS Mechanized Combat League – Guerrilla Games
  • Battlezone – Rebellion
  • PlayStation VR Worlds – LONDON STUDIO
  • Tumble VR – Supermassive Games
  • EVE: Valkyrie – CCP
  • Headmaster – Frame Interactive
  • Wayward Sky – Uber Entertainment

Aside from the eight free titles, Sony confirmed that there are about 50 game titles that will be readily available for purchase once the upcoming VR device comes out on the market. They include "Project CARS," "Synthesis Universe," "Until Dawn: Rush of Blood," and "War Thunder," among others.

Sony decided to release the PlayStation VR earlier than the upcoming new PlayStation 4 devices.

"To make sure that we are able to prepare and deliver enough units of PS VR and a wide variety of software titles to consumers worldwide, we have decided to launch PS VR in October 2016," Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House said in a statement earlier this year, as reported by Mirror UK. "For those who are looking forward to its launch, we would like to thank everyone for their patience and continued support. We are beyond excited to deliver to consumers the amazing experience that PS VR offers."

The PlayStation VR is already available for pre-order for $549.95. It comes with a headset, the device's processor unit, a pair of stereo earbuds, the USB cable, and HDMI cable, an AC adaptor, as well as the headset connection adaptor.

Aside from the PlayStation VR, Sony also revealed that PlayStation 4 Slim will be released for $299 and the high-end PlayStation 4 Pro will be available for $399 on Nov. 10, 2016.
