Recently, Niantic has been rolling out updates to "Pokémon GO." While updates are an exciting thing to have, it is safe to say that fans are more interested in what is inside them. That is because, in a recent update, data miners acquired additional information that hints at an upcoming raid system.

According to Forbes, in the latest "Pokémon GO" update, a description of raids called "defeat_raid_pokemon" has been discovered. It is said to include an XP grant whenever players obtain a certain achievement. Although it seems vague, this is the most interesting of all discoveries from the game's files.

Most enthusiasts believe that the raid system could offer either a rivalry team or faction raiding a particular gym. However, the obtained description actually says a lot more. It is basically pointing to Pokémon getting defeated.

"Pokémon GO" data miners from The Silph Road, a community founded on Reddit, suggest a possible theory for this. They basically believe that players will be granted XP whenever they are able to defeat a pocket monster whenever a raid happens. This means defending the creature trying to raid a player's gym.

While Niantic has remained quiet over the past few months, theorists believe that the raid system could be gym-centric in "Pokémon GO." In fact, the already-acquired description "feed your Pokémon a berry" somehow matches it. With this, it is possible that the studio will add push notifications that will inform players if their respective gyms are being raided.

In related "Pokémon GO" news, CNN reports that a player in Russia is facing a three-and-a-half-year suspended sentence. He was convicted for insulting religious believers and inciting hatred while filming in a local Orthodox church. The player's name is Ruslan Sokolovsky, 22, who is a well-known YouTuber. Nevertheless, he was reportedly relieved that, somehow, he will not be facing real prison time.
