According to Nintendo News, there were rumors that the beta testing for "Pokémon Go" is scheduled for "winter 2015." However, it is already in the middle February, and some fans were disappointed that the much-awaited closed beta sessions remain undisclosed. However, the industry follower said that fans are still hoping for the closed beta – or at least an announcement of it – to occur, since winter typically lasts up to the middle of March in the Northern Hemisphere.

Meanwhile, N4BB cautioned fans about circulating websites about the rumored closed beta tests for "Pokémon GO." Allegedly, these websites are bogus, since Nintendo has yet to confirm if indeed a test version will be forthcoming. In addition, these fake websites typically try to get personal information from the user. Nintendo itself issued a statement about the issue, saying that "In regards to the beta test of 'Pokémon GO,' no official announcements have been made. As soon as there is new information, it will be announced on the Pokémon GO official site."

The winter 2015 closed beta rumor dovetails with recent news about the upcoming augmented reality title. According to Gotta Be Mobile, Nintendo and developer Niantic already confirmed that "Pokémon GO" will be appearing at this year's Game Developers' Conference, which is scheduled on March 14 to 18. Should Nintendo really plan on having a winter release for the closed beta, the conference is where the announcement will most likely be made.

"Pokémon GO" doesn't have a specific release date yet, although some speculations say that the title will become available before the year ends.
