Pokemon GO tips, tricks & cheats: Quick tips on how to defeat Kyogre

"Pokemon GO" adds Kyogre to its Legendary Pokemon rosterFacebook/PokemonGO

Pokemon GO Legendary and EX Raids give trainers the opportunity to acquire extremely rare and powerful Pokémon such as Groudon, Kyogre and Mewtwo, which are available by participating in by-invitation-only EX Raids.

The Pokemon GO team announced that "Kyogre, the Water-type Legendary Pokemon originally discovered in the Hoenn region, is now appearing in Raid Battles around the world! Keep an eye out for Kyogre at Gyms near you, and you may be one of the first to catch this Legendary Pokemon. But don't delay as Kyogre will only be available until 1:00 p.m. PST on Feb. 14, 2018."

There are still a few more days to go before Valentine's day, so here are a few tips on catching the legendary Pokemon before time runs out.

Kyogre has a tendency to move side to side on a regular basis so hitting the Pokemon with an excellent or great throw can be quite a difficult task. To have a better aim, it is recommended that players turn off the augmented reality (AR) function of their game as the moving background with AR can easily become a distraction.

A rather cheap trick to keep Kyogre in place is by turning the AR on and then turning it back off, which will bring the Pokemon to its default position in the center. Players have to be mindful, though, that it will start to move sideways again in a matter of seconds so it would be best to try and hit it with an excellent throw on the first shot as soon as its position is reset.

To defeat Kyogre in battle, use electric type Pokemon as they are very effective against water type creatures such as Kyogre. The monster is also weak against grass type Pokemon so players who don't have electric heavy hitters, such as Raikou and Zapdos, can opt for grass types of the same (or higher) power level.

Kyogre is an extremely good catch, with powerful moves such as Waterfall and Hydro Pump. It is also good for trainers who live in areas where it rains a lot, as the weather will give it quite an upgrade in CP, with its default 2328 jumping to 2910 with weather boost.
