'Pokemon Sun and Moon' news: Next update said to come via next issue of CoroCoro

Pokemon Sun and Moon tease in CoroCoro MagazineCoroCoro Magazine

The April issue of CoroCoro magazine was teased to include rare information regarding "Pokemon Sun and Moon," but as revealed in a report from Silicon Era, the issue only gave a glimpse of the games' covers that were barely visible due to a shining light effect. However, the report points out that the May issue will have something substantial to reveal.

It is hinted that the April issue's image is just a template and the following issues of CoroCoro Magazine will replace the blank space with the new Pokemon being introduced in "Pokemon Sun and Moon." There are 10 brand new Pokemon being introduced in the game, hinting that they will be revealed in pairs through the next five issues.

Fans speculate that this means the CoroCoro issues can serve as a countdown to the release date of "Pokemon Sun and Moon," with a potential September release date if this indeed pushes through.

However, Nintendo and the Pokemon Company have yet to announce a release date and this September placeholder should be viewed solely as speculation. The game is scheduled to be released by the holidays, hinting that a September release is still too early, although it may also be a countdown to the potential release of "Pokemon Go."

Other than the blank covers, the April issue also confirms that Magearna will be a Steel-Fairy type Pokemon. This makes Magearna the third Pokemon of this hybrid type, joining Klefki and Mawile as the only ones with this combination. No other indications of other Pokemon, such as the multiple forms of Zygarde, have been teased in the April issue.

"Pokemon Sun and Moon" will mark the seventh generation of main games in the popular franchise and are expected to be the last "Pokemon" games released for the 3DS before the franchise moves on to Nintendo's next console or handheld.
