The sophomore season of "Poldark" will premiere on Sunday, Sept. 4. But BBC One has already confirmed that the show will return for season 3 after the upcoming one.

The network revealed in a statement released in early July that the eight-part drama will return for its third season, saying that 10 new episodes will be added after season 2.

"Poldark is a passion project for all of us, and it's with real excitement that we prepare for both the launch of series two and our return to Cornwall to shoot series three. Winston Graham and Debbie Horsfield's extraordinary flair for storytelling means the saga of Ross, his friends and enemies will go to even more thrilling places!" Mammoth Screen managing director Damien Timmer said.

Meanwhile, Aidan Turner revealed during a TCA session, as reported by Decider, that fans should look forward to a lot of exciting scenes for his character Ross Poldark when the series returns for its sophomore season.

According to the actor, "There are lots of ups and downs for everyone ... Ross Poldark is emotionally inarticulate. Is it possible to be in love with more than one person? ... His moral compass is usually pointed in the right direction. Ross does have a bit of a nasty streak."

Meanwhile, Turner's co-star Eleanor Tomlinson shared during the panel that her character Demelza will also mature in the upcoming season.

"Demelza has really grown up through the series. She has this incredible love of life, despite losing her child. She's got a lot of love to give. The thought of losing Ross is terrifying because she knows he's innocent. Demelza is terrified he'll be taken away from her," the actress stated.

The second season of "Poldark" is scheduled to return to BBC One with new episodes every Sunday beginning Sept. 4.
