It was previously revealed that the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie is going to have actor Bryan Cranston, famous for his role in "Breaking Bad," portray Zordon, leader of the titular heroes. Speaking to ET, the actor has given a few more details regarding his version of the character and what differences there may be. 

According to Cranston, the basic premise of this Zordon will be similar to that from the 1990s television series in which Zordon and Rita Repulsa (now played by Elizabeth Banks) are enemies. While Zordon is able to seal Rita away, she manages to trap him in a time warp of some sort.

"The tenant of that storyline is that this a real person who is trapped in this etherworld and it becomes this in-the-wall so to speak of the command center," Cranston explained. "He still has a heart and mind, but an agenda that he's got to get these five Power Rangers to defend the earth or else everyone they know will be killed."

He also confirmed that while this gives the character a more grounded and realistic approach compared to the original series, there will still be a lot of motion-capture and CGI involved to portray him properly. Fans will recall that Zordon has always been presented as a large floating head in a cannister whilst his real body is still trapped in a different world or dimension.

Cranston has a strong connection with the television series as he did voice some of the villains during the original series' run on TV. It is noted that the Blue Ranger's character, Billy Cranston (David Yost), was named in Bryan Cranston's honor. This will be Cranston's official return to the series after two decades.

"Power Rangers" is a reboot film as it focuses again on the original group of teenagers and their fight against Rita Repulsa. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on March 24, 2017.
