Premier looking for best Christian websites

The Christian Web and New Media Awards have announced they will be presenting this year's winners with a range of high tech prizes including an Apple Mac Notebook, a Nintendo Wii, an Apple iTouch and a home cinema projector.

In addition, the Best Small Church Website will be awarded a cheque of £1,000 while the Best Large Church Website will be given their own ministry programme, to be broadcast on Premier Christian Radio.

"This year, we've a new take on the awards as well as bigger and better prizes, we'll be expanding the Best Church Website into two categories, reflecting achievements for both small and large churches in the UK," said ceremony host and Premier Radio presenter Maria Toth.

This year will also see the first People's Choice Award for the public's favourite Christian website.

Established in 2007 by Premier Christian Media to recognise and reward Christian achievements on the internet, The Original Christian Web and New Media Awards were the first exclusively Christian award ceremony for bloggers and web designers in the UK.

Now in its third year, the awards continue to grow. The awards now feature a new media section, to recognise a wider range of Christian achievements in technology, from iPhone applications to VJ to flash games.

"There are some amazing achievements in new media being made by the Christian community in the UK," Toth said. "The Original Christian Web and New Media Awards isn't just about awarding those achievements, it's also about bringing the organisations involved to a wider Christian audience."
