'Prison Break' season 5 premiere, spoilers: next season hitting screens no later than April 2017

Wentworth Miller returns as Michael ScofieldFOX

Up to now, "Prison Break" season 5 still has no specific premiere date. FOX only says that it will be out by spring. Thankfully, the writers of the show narrowed that timeframe.

"There are factors that mean we don't have a firm date yet. I can promise that [the first episode] will have aired before April," the writers tweeted to a fan who asked if a March 2017 premiere is possible.

The writers also hinted that there might be some changes being done in "Prison Break" season 5, although it is important to note that filming is complete.

"In TV and film, changes keep happening right up until the day the thing airs," they said. They said in an earlier tweet that they are still in post-production.

"We're almost there, but we still have some more work to do," the writers stated. However, if executive producer Vaun Wilmott's tweet is anything to go by, the "Prison Break" season 5 premiere is not that far along.

"It won't be long now," he posted with a behind-the-scenes photo featuring Dominic Purcell and Sarah Wayne Callies, who will be back as Lincoln Burrows and Sara Trancedi, respectively.

Wilmott also shared a photo of Callies and Wentworth Miller, who will be back as Michael Scofield in "Prison Break" season 5. He captioned it "The future? Or the past? You decide."

Of course, one of the ultimate questions expected to be answered in the "Prison Break" revival is if Michael and Sara will ever get back together.

That is made unlikely with Michael's current situation and Sara now married to another man. However, Michael will do everything he could to be with his family, although he does not think he deserve it after the horrible things he has done.

As for the possibility of a sixth season, the writers tweeted they "sure hope" there will be one. "We have bills to pay," they quipped.
