'Prison Break' season 5 spoilers: Plot setting is in Yemen

Fox

Speaking to Deadline, actor Dominic Purcell revealed several minor clues regarding the plot and setting of "Prison Break" season 5, the revival season for the show that officially ended back in 2009. According to Purcell, the season will pick up from the events of the movie that ended the series and will be set primarily in Yemen.

"The show is taking place in Yemen; we're dealing with ISIS and ISA, and obviously we left off with Michael (Wentworth Miller) presumably dead," Purcell explained. "He wasn't, he ended up working for this organization. It got to the point where he couldn't do it anymore, and they threw him in a jail in Yemen to change his mind."

It is further speculated that this means the protagonists will be fighting more than just the criminal organization from previous seasons but also terrorist groups that have control over Yemen.

Purcell continued to explain that the season felt like a cross between "American Sniper" and the "Bourne" film series, indicating that there will be a high level of fast-paced action, espionage and terrorism blended together with the desert setting. Although the series is set in Yemen, Purcell did confirm that they filmed in Morocco.

The actor, who was injured on set when an iron bar fell on his head as they were filming a scene, confirmed that he is fine and perfectly healthy. The injuries are still visible on his face and arm and he did state that they will film a scene which will explain how he got these injuries in the context of the show.

It is also confirmed that filming for the series is still ongoing, which further indicates that the series will not be premiering until spring 2017. The studios have yet to announce an official release date but it is speculated that the show will not premiere any later than Q2 2017.
