The batch of NATs where Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra) is included will face a very difficult competition when "Quantico" returns next month.

Three NATs that come from the batch ahead of Parrish's them will make the lives of the current recruits more challenging, according to Entertainment Weekly. The new characters include the very intelligent Will Olsen (Jay Armstrong), the calm and composed Iris Chang (Li Jun Li), and the charming Drew Perales (Lenny Platt).

Despite their strong characteristics, the three NATs also have their own sets of weaknesses. Olsen tends to be a little withdrawn and socially awkward, while Chang wants things to be done according to her way without caring about other's feelings. Perales, on the other hand, acts as the group's leader. His alpha persona has the tendency to clash with the others.

According to series executive producers Josh Safran and Jake Coburn, adding the three new characters will not complicate the story even if they all have their own arcs to follow. The present Quantico and future New York timelines will not use the characters present in the first half of the season that much.

"One of the things that has happened in the back [half of the season], which I think is a good thing, is that characters are no longer required to play on both sides of the story," Safran explained. "It's almost like having two different shows that are tied together."

Coburn added that each one of their very talented actors will be given a time to shine in the second half of the season.

Apart from the new characters, the producers also teased that several lives will be lost when the second half of "Quantico" returns.

"I can tell you that 32 people are not going to make it out of that building alive," Safran earlier told TVLine.

However, the series creator did not mention who among the characters will meet their untimely demise.

"Quantico" returns for the second half of its first season on March 6 on ABC.
