The finale of the action-packed fourth season of "Ray Donovan" definitely brought the titular character (Liev Schreiber) closer to his family. Moving towards the fifth season, fans can expect the brood working together more.

It was a refreshing sight to see Ray and his family celebrating. Everyone made it out alive, and they were in high spirits with the realization that working as one allows them to accomplish big things.

This will be the premise that showrunner David Hollander wants to explore further come "Ray Donovan" season 5. During an interview with TV Line, he stated that he will test this familial strength in a new stage.

"I am very interested to see what happens when the Donovan family actually attempts to work together in more unison in the world of Hollywood. I would love to do a very grand Hollywood story," he teased.

Hollander elaborated a bit of this exciting idea during his chat with Yahoo TV, saying that it will now be "a little concentrated."

"Family focused, Hollywood, boxing, relationship between Abby and Ray, and the brothers working more closely with Ray," the showrunner enumerated.

As for Ray's relationship with God, Hollander said that "he's made peace with who he is. He's jettisoned the idea that God is going to solve his problems. His new God is his family."

Hollander also teased that the upcoming season will reveal if Abby (Paula Malcolmson) was indeed telling the truth when she said she was cured of her cancer.

A newfound bond and trust between Ray and his father, Mickey (Jon Voight), will be explored as Ray finally accepts his help like he did in the previous season.

As for Bridgit (Kerris Dorsey), who hinted leaving for college, Hollander said that she will only "visit" New York University in season 5 and not necessarily leave.

The showrunner wants to, at least, establish a relationship between Bridgit and Ray before she goes off to college, so it looks like she is not going anywhere.

The fifth season of "Ray Donovan" will premiere next year on Showtime.
