'Red Dead Redemption 2' delay is a good thing?

Rockstar Games announced that the "Red Dead Redemption 2" release date will be delayed. This obviously did not sit well with fans as they are now looking for any justification regarding the game's delay.

Originally set to be released in fall of this year on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it will now be released in spring of 2018. Rockstar stated that, "some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans."

While it is normal for fans to be upset, the delay is for a good reason. As pointed out by IGN, Rockstar's statement underlines that fact and serves as an assurance that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be a top-tier game.

The fact that the title is already projected to sell at least 15 million copies also entitles Rockstar to some slack. They could easily release the game and earn a sizable chunk of cash even if it's riddled with bugs and glitches.

However, the fact that they are delaying its release to work on it further is testimony to their dedication. It shows that the company is not in this to make a quick buck but to deliver games of the utmost quality.

This could also work in the gamer's favor especially with reports from Game Rant that the game will also be filled with microtransactions. While saving is not in many gamer's vocabulary, it probably wouldn't hurt to have a couple of hundred bucks to fork out for that awesome in-game item.

While there are fans who are weary of game delays, especially with the whole "No Man's Sky" debacle, Rockstar has an established track record. After all, it was the company that broke six world records with "Grand Theft Auto V."

So, in the immortal words of "Mario" creator Miyamoto, "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever." Who knows, maybe "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be another great example of this gaming proverb.
