'Red Dead Redemption 2' news: Sequel to give E3 a miss but it may still be close to happening

For a while now, there have been reports that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be announced at the highly anticipated Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016.

However, media outlets are now reporting that an E3 appearance will not be happening and that the game won't see the light of day until next year.

There aren't clear explanations about the apparent change of plans, but it is looking like fans of the Western shooter will have to twiddle their thumbs more before the sequel will be released.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is yet to be made official, but the game is simply a no-brainer for Rockstar. Considering the success of the original, released back in 2010, it was simply assumed that the game will soon come to existence.

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of "Red Dead Redemption" developer Rockstar, prides itself with years-in-the-making titles that are put together patiently for an excellent product.

The company has always stood by its mindset of shying away from annual releases and milking franchises. Simply put, Take-Two believes that it's better for fans to wait years for a great game than 12 months with a mediocre one.

This is believed to be the same attitude the company imposes in its approach to "Red Dead Redemption 2." Take-Two is treating the shooter another one of its franchises.

With this, it will be years before a new iteration of the game comes out. It is the same with "GTA," whose fifth iteration came five years after the "GTA 4."

It has been six years since "Red Dead Redemption" was released and it seems reasonable to believe that the sequel may be just around the corner. If it won't appear next month at the E3, it could still be not too far away.

As for the features of "Red Dead Redemption 2," rumors suggest it will have elements of "Mafia 3," an upcoming action-adventure video game by Hangar 13 and 2K Games. A city from the latter is said to be included in a rumored larger map of the former.
