Reese Witherspoon treks into a different 'Wild'

Academy Award winning actress Reese Witherspoon wanders away from the usual romantic roles with the upcoming film "Wild". The movie is based on the best-selling memoir "Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail" by Cheryl Strayed.

Better known for her performances in Legally Blonde or Walk The Line, Witherspoon embarks on an uncanny and different role as she takes on perhaps the physically and emotionally demanding movie. She plays as Cheryl Strayed who sought to recover her life and discover herself by walking the thousand-mile Pacific Crest Tale.

Regardless of the demanding physical requirements, it was her love for the book which enticed her to take on the role. And that included the harshest conditions and encounters that she would have to endure as she treks out into deserts and mountains.

"I have to say the spot where we shot that scene is one of most beautiful places I've been in my life," she recalls. "Being on the edge of that mountain while contemplating all that was happening to Cheryl in that instant was intensely emotional. It's the first moment when she decides nothing is going to be able to tear her apart. It seems to her that the universe keeps trying to shred her to pieces. And now she decides she just absolutely will not let it."

While the adventures required by the film offer Witherspoon a whole new world of discoveries, the whole experience was something that something she terms as "fills you up".

"To see the incredible beauty of our world makes you believe everything might really be OK. I think that's how Cheryl came to feel."

"Wild" is one of this year's favorites for major film awards and critics pick. It is scheduled to hit cinemas in February from 20th Century Fox and distributed by Warner Bros.
