The demo for "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" recently got an update that gave more purpose to the mysterious severed finger, and now, the game's producer, Masachika Kawata, confirms that the demo will get one more update before the full game launches. He also confirms that "Resident Evil 7" will have no online mode.

Speaking to YugaTech, Kawata explained that the demo will allow players to experience other aspects of the game that will become crucial when the full game becomes available. Unfortunately, he also states that there is no fixed release date yet for this update, but he did confirm that it will launch before the main game is released.

Given that "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is launching for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Jan. 24, 2017, this means there are only a few months left for the update to roll out. Fans speculate that the update will launch before the end of the month in order to be a part of the ongoing Halloween festivities.

During the same interview, he confirmed that the main game will focus solely on a linear, single-player campaign, stating that there will not be an online mode for co-op play.

"'Resident Evil 7' is not supporting any online modes," he said and went on to say: "So for example, with 'Resident Evil 5,' we focused on cooperative online play, which was well-received. But the key concept of 'Resident Evil 7' is horror, so from the very beginning, we thought that playing alone will give the best horror experience."

As pointed out by Games Radar, this also means the game will also not be featuring a Mercenaries mode. This mode was featured in the franchise since "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis."

However, it is also pointed out that this decision does further drive forward the horror and gore themes that the game is going for. Games Radar points out that "Resident Evil 7" is rumored to have a Mature rating, indicating that it is indeed going to showcase hardcore horror themes that would not have a strong impact when played in co-op.
