A Rihanna fan has filed a lawsuit after sampling a lipstick by Rihanna's Mac cosmetics line, saying that she contracted herpes after using the product.

Starkeema Greenidge, from New York, is reportedly seeking unspecified damages from Mac Cosmetics for the "mental anguish and emotional distress" caused by Rihanna's "RiRi Woo" lipstick.

The 28-year-old claims that she was not able to work for two weeks due to the virus. . "This is going to happen over and over again if nothing is done," she told the New York Daily News. "I wasn't able to work for two weeks. It cost me a lot of money."

The incident happened on May 7, at Rihanna's gig at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Greenidge said she stopped at Mac Cosmetics pop-up shop which sponsored the concert. She claims that Rihanna's red Woo lipstick which was applied to her by an employee gave her herpes.

The lawsuit claims: "[She] didn't use a fresh or new lipstick tube, but rather one that had been used for other patrons."

Greenidge said she was herpes-free before she went to the concert, but two days after applying the lipstick she had a cold sore on her lip.

Her lawyers say that Mac Cosmetics should have known they were "exposing patrons to possible spread of disease" and that the company should use disposable lipstick for such events.

Rihanna's signature RiRi Woo lipstick, part of a multi-collection deal with the cosmetics company, was launched in February, with the initial shipment already being sold out.
