Many were surprised when the sports-and-cars title "Rocket League" was included in the July lineup for the PS Plus. Apparently, both Sony and developer Psyonix still have an additional surprise up their sleeves.

In a recent announcement, Psyonix has confirmed that an expansion is on its way for "Rocket League" this August. Although no specific dates were mentioned, the post stated that the new paid DLC, "Supersonic Fury," will be released in the early days of the month.

The "Supersonic Fury" DLC will bring improvements to the game's performance, design, and gameplay, and will introduce new content. It is set to add two all-new Battle Cars to the line-up, both coming from diverse vehicle fan factions. The first one is the American Dominus, so players can expect the new vehicle to be a muscle-bound, power-hungry car. Meanwhile, the new Takumi comes straight from the Japanese racing scene, with its souped-up design and radical aerodynamics. Both the Dominus and Takumi will be DLC exclusives, so players can only gain access to the new add-on lineups through the expansion. In addition to availability exclusivity, the two new cars will also come with six different decals each for Garage customization.

Additional add-ons are also included with the DLC, such as the Nitrous and Burnout rocket boosts, additional Trophies, five new choices for Paint Types, and two new Wheel sets.

The "Supersonic Fury" DLC can be purchased for $3.99.

In addition, a free base game update will also come out this month. Also, according to Jeremy Dunham, vice president of marketing for Psyonix, there will be additional expansions in the future.

He stated, "It is our sincere hope that this mix of paid DLC and free add-on content is what 'Rocket League' fans have been waiting for, and it's just the beginning of what is plenty more to come."

The free update for "Rocket League" will feature Spectator Mode, Goal explosions, and Demolitions. There will also be an additional map called the Utopia Coliseum, as well as more than 70 additional country flags.
