'Roseanne' revival news and updates: Pictures of first table reading released on social media

Actress Roseanne (C), flanked by her screen "husband" and "daughter" John Goodman and Sara Gilbert, hold bouqets of roses at the curtain call after the final episode of the "Roseanne" television series was taped in Los Angeles, April 4. The show ended a nine-year run of 221 episodes.REUTERS

The reunion of the late 80's to late 90's sitcom, "Roseanne," is already underway. Images of the behind-the-scenes script reading have already been released and have caused quite a stir, especially among longtime fans of the show.

On a Twitter post from the official "Roseanne" account, a photo showed that most of the members from the original cast were present for the first script table reading session of the comeback show. The caption stated that the show will be back some time in 2018 on the ABC network.

In a report by Pop Sugar, Laurie Metcalfe, who played Jackie; Roseanne Barr as Roseanne; Michael Fishman, who portrayed D.J. Conner; and Sarah Chalke as Becky in the original run of the show, were all spotted at the table read. Despite John Goodman's character, Dan, being killed off in the season finale of the show, he has still made an appearance at the table read. In fact, the reunion will continue as if Dan had not died in the story.

This could possibly mean that the show runners will find a way to bring him back for the show's return. However, notable personalities missing from the original series include "Big Bang Theory" star, Johnny Galecki, who played David Healy, according to Inquisitr. As of now, ABC is still trying to negotiate the terms for Galecki's return. If Galecki cannot be persuaded to join the reunion, then it is safe to assume that the show will find a replacement for him.

Apart from members of the original cast, the reunion merits an additional character to be part of it as well. According to the Huffington Post, Ames McNamara, Jayden Rey, and Emma Rose Kenny will be participating in the show's reunion. They will be playing the daughters of Darlene and David. So far, the actors and the producers have agreed on doing eight episodes this time around. Perhaps, if the show does well, the show runners could decide to do more.
