The CW has confirmed that it will be rebooting the hit sci-fi teen drama "Roswell" but will inserting immigration issues in the new plot.

Still based on the "Roswell High" book series by Melinda Metz, the reboot has enlisted Carina Aldy Mackenzie ("The Originals") to write the script as well as produce the show. Original show producer Kevin Kelly Brown will be joining the production staff as well.

Cast of the reboot have not yet been revealed but the plot for the new show will be tackling immigration issues which was left mostly untouched in the original show. Fans quickly noticed the Trump-era point of view of the CW reboot.

In the original show that piloted back in 1999, Liz Parker, played by Shiri Appleby, was serving tables in her parent's Crashdown Café. A fight broke out between two customers with one guy pulling out a gun that eventually and accidentally shot Liz. Max Evans, played by Jason Behr, jumps in to save Liz's life by placing his hand over the gunshot wound, and completely heals it. This leaves a silver handprint on Liz's stomach, so the next thing Max does before fleeing is to pour ketchup on Liz. From there, the story begins.

Millennials would say that the scene is very similar to "Twilight," and that may be true, only it is the other way around. It would be more precise to say that Bella and Edward's story is somewhat similar to Liz and Max's.

For the reboot, the title character is no longer in high school and is an undocumented immigrant returning to Roswell, New Mexico. She finds out that her high school crush is an alien who has blended in perfectly as a police officer. She decides to protect his secret and find out how the government is covering this up.

While some fans of the original series are happy to hear that their childhood drama is coming back, there are others that are not so much on the same page.
