Samsung is set to launch a foldable tablet next year, according to a report.

Android Authority cited Korean web site Daum, which claimed that Samsung is currently working on an 8 inch or 9-inch tablet that can be folded inward and can be converted into a device that is the size of a smartphone.

"The display is made by forming a release layer, sealing layer and color filter layer on one piece of glass, then a release layer, sealing layer, TFT layer and an OLED layer on another piece of glass. Attach those two together, peel off the glass and replace with a sealing and flexible substrate," the report said.

This is not the first time that this particular rumor emerged. This rumor is in lined with the Samsung's patent for a foldable tablet that was granted to the company early this year. A prototype of the device was allegedly appeared at the Mobile World Congress in February.

There were also reports that claimed that Samsung is working on flexible displays. Moreover, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was rumored to sport such form factor. However, the South Korean tech company has not confirmed any of the rumors yet.

Meanwhile, Samsung unveiled the new tablet line Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The new slabs boast a high-res SuperAMOLED display with 2,560 x 1,600 that rivals the iPad Mini with Retina display. The tablet's emphasis is on entertainment and consumption. The company named Google, Netflix and Flipboard as important content providers for the Tab S.

Aside from high-res screen display, Samsung Galaxy Tab S also packed a fingerprint scanner for added security. The device can store eight different log in profiles. The official release of the tablets is still unknown. However, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S will cost $499 for the 10.5-inch version, and $399 for the 8.4-inch.
