Tech giant Samsung is set to surprise its legions of fans with a presentation this week. 

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is set to be a major product launch event, and will take place in New York on Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. ET. While the Korea-based company will reveal its presentation in real time, fans worldwide may also watch the live stream for the event on the global Samsung Galaxy Unpacked website which will also start simultaneously with the affair. 

Samsung has not released any detail on what it will discuss or reveal during the upcoming event, but tech observers are saying that the Korea-based company will most likely unveil its new flagship smartphones, the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. 

If this is indeed the case, then this will be the first time that Samsung will unveil a new Note this early in the year. Previously, the company has aimed for either a September or October unveiling of the product, with roll outs occurring in the latter part of the year. Samsung may have bumped up its original intended date to get ahead of the competition, most particularly Apple. Reports speculate that the Cupertino-based company is readying its new iPhones for launch by next month. 

In anticipation of Samsung's upcoming launch, purported leaks and speculated specs of the new Samsung lineups are making their rounds online these past few weeks. According to rumors, the new Note 5 will have greatly improved design and specs over its predecessor, such as a more powerful processor, sealed glass back design, a more powerful camera, and better interface with its included S Pen. Meanwhile, other reports highlight that since the new Note 5 will have a sealed back, the feature will do away with removable battery and expandable storage.
