Samsung Galaxy Note 6 release date, specs rumors: reveal coming Aug. 2?

Rumor has it that the next Galaxy Note will be revealed on Aug. 2.Sammobile.com

Speculations suggest that the new Galaxy Note will roll out by August.

According to SamMobile, the South Korea-based company will launch its own press event, Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2016, on August 2 in New York. Reportedly, the tech conglomerate will be officially unveiling the new Galaxy Note at the said event.

Although Samsung has yet to confirm the detail, rumors say that the next flagship will skip a model number from the current Galaxy Note 5 and will launch as the Galaxy Note 7. In addition, speculations say that one of the major improvements that Samsung will be featured on the Galaxy Note 7 is a dual-edge display.

Although it is still too early for the specs sheet to come out, observers have already reported rumored specs for the new Galaxy Note. It is already expected that the Galaxy Note 7 will carry a next-gen chipset and may even feature the anticipated Snapdragon 823 processor. It is also said that as a phablet hybrid, Samsung will be integrating 6GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of onboard storage, which may be expandable (Samsung brought back this feature in the Galaxy S7 series). In addition, the new Galaxy Note may also feature IP6X proofing, an iris scanner, and USB Type-C connectivity.

As for why Samsung will reportedly skip a number, industry followers believe that the South Korea-based tech conglomerate is streamlining its flagship lineups. Since the other smartphone flagship of the company, the Galaxy S series, is already on its seventh generation, Samsung has to skip the sixth-gen for the Galaxy Note lineup. This means that after the Galaxy Note 7 is released, fans can expect the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8.
