The next handset to get a much-needed Lollipop makeover will be last year's Samsung flagship, the Galaxy S5. According to Australian carrier Optus, the first-class smartphone is currently in testing for Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and the operating system is expected to be deployed as early as this month. 

The rollout will commence in the Land Down Under in "early June," as the carrier noted, but no specific date was mentioned. The Samsung Galaxy S5 already has Android 5.0 Lollipop. What 5.0.2 will bring along are bug fixes and improvements on the device's overall performance. 

This raises the concern on whether or not other Samsung devices such as the S4 and the Note line-up will make a jump to the updated build soon, although it's important to note that their manufacturer has already vowed to dispatch micro-updates for handsets that experience issues with Lollipop. 

Going back to S5, in the event Samsung and Optus do not find any issues during the testing phase, other regions and carriers should receive the update soon as well. But it wouldn't hurt to check the availability of the update via the S5's settings (Settings -> About Phone -> System updates -> Check for Updates). 

Other Samsung devices jumping to the Lollipop bandwagon is the Galaxy A5. Android 5.0 Lollipop is now available to the metal-caked device. For those who haven't switched to the software, they need to make room for the 1 GB update and juice up the phone to at least 50 percent before installation. 

When the transition is complete, owners can enjoy loads of goodies such as the vibrant and colorful animations brought about by the Material Design as well as improvements on battery life and device protection. The notification and the lockscreen were revamped and the Wi-Fi connectivity was enhanced. 

Users should keep an eye out for Android 5.0.2 Lollipop coming to the Samsung Galaxy S5 in a little while.
