Samsung may still have an ace up its sleeve as it is rumored that it will add another version in the Galaxy S7 lineup. This time, speculations suggest that the company will be bringing back its Mini iterations.

According to SamMobile, the South Korea-based tech giant is reportedly thinking of bringing back its scaled-down versions of its flagships, starting with the newly released Galaxy S7 series.

The most recent small version of a flagship is the Galaxy S5 Mini. Reportedly, Samsung will try to reboot the small version lineup in order to directly take on Apple's reported 4-inch iPhone.

Since the reported iPhone SE is a scaled-down version of an Apple flagship, Samsung will be retaining most of the specs of the Galaxy S7, shrinking it to a supposed Galaxy S7 Mini. According to speculations, the Galaxy S7 Mini will sport a 4.6-inch display with 720 x 1280 resolution. However, instead of the smaller variant being a watered-down version of the flagship, the Galaxy S7 Mini will reportedly carry almost the same specs as the recently released flagship.

This means that the Galaxy S7 Mini will also feature a Snapdragon 820 processor, as well as an Exynos 8890 chipset. In addition, the SoCs will be paired with 3 GB of RAM. Reportedly, the Galaxy S7 Mini will also retain the 12MP main camera of the flagship series.

However, GSM Arena insisted that although it may be plausible for Samsung to come out with a Mini version to counter Apple's new scaled-down iPhone, details are not yet concrete. However, if the rumor is proven true in the coming weeks, then fans may see the Galaxy S7 Mini sooner, since its supposed rival – the 4-inch iPhone, will reportedly launch on March 21 at an Apple event dubbed "Infinite Loop."
