It is expected that the next Samsung flagship will come out early next year with new features and improvements. Speculations suggest that one noted change for the Galaxy S8 is a converted audio jack.

Forbes reports that, with Apple paving the way, South Korea-based Samsung may also shift the standard 3.5 mm audio jack in favor of a new port on the Galaxy S8. The new flagship is expected to come out with a USB Type-C, and Samsung may integrate the audio connection with the new port.

However, the industry follower also underscored rumors that instead of changing audio jack standards — from 3.5mm to USB Type-C — the South Korea-based tech conglomerate is thinking of coming out with a new, proprietary port instead. In addition, it is also said that Samsung hopes to patent its new audio port and license its design to other Android manufacturers. This is highly possible since Apple has already done it with the recently-launched iPhone 7.

Meanwhile, aside from the new audio port, it is also said that Samsung will be featuring improvements on the Galaxy S8 design. One change is Samsung's shift to curved displays. Reportedly, the Galaxy S8 will launch early next year without a regular, flat-screened version. The Galaxy S8 is expected to come out in both 5.1-inch and 5.7-inch versions, sporting dual-edge curved screens.

There are also talks suggesting that a new feature will also make it to the Galaxy S8 — a dual camera setup. Purportedly, Samsung is already checking out dual camera options for its new flagship. While Samsung has yet to "leak" details on this new feature, it is highly possible for the flagship to sport this particular camera setup when it is released since most recent flagships from Samsung competitors already carry the feature.

As to when fans can expect the Galaxy S8, rumor has it that Samsung will push for an early announcement, even before the 2017 MWC event, to make up for the Galaxy Note 7 recall issue.
