Leaks and rumors about the features of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus are all over the internet. A recent leak reveals the design of the new device. Meanwhile, Samsung confirmed that the handset will be using a new processor that will improve its performance.

According to reports, leaked images of the device were posted on Chinese microblogging site Weibo. The images reveal that both smartphones have a similar design to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. It will also have a curved screen and small bezels. The leak also shows there will be lenses and sensors above the screen. Others are saying that the device will come with an improved iris scanner. Like the S8, it will feature a volume button, a Bixby button on the left, and the power button on the right.

The rear side of the handset shows its difference from the S8. Its fingerprint scanner is positioned below the camera lens. As for its camera, it uses a single lens instead of a dual lens like that of the Galaxy Note 8. Users who want a dual lens can opt for the S9 Plus version since it is rumored to have a second lens.

Apart from that, Samsung recently released an official statement revealing that Samsung S9 will come with its latest premium application processor (AP), the Exynos 9 Series 9810. The press release indicates that the AP will bring the next level of performance to the smartphone. The chipset will provide powerful third-generation custom CPU, faster gigabit LTE modem, and sophisticated image processing.

Ben Hur, vice president of System LSI marketing at Samsung Electronics, said that the Exynos 9 Series 9810 is its "most innovative mobile processor yet." He also considers the processor as "a key catalyst for innovation in smart platforms such as smartphones, personal computing and automotive for the coming AI era."

With the new processor, Samsung Galaxy S9 can record 4K UHD stabilized at up to 120fps. This is twice the 60fps of the iPhones released in 2017. It will also support 10-bit HEVC and VP9 video formats with a 64x wider color palette than the 8-bit color support that was used last year.

Additionally, a Cat.18 LTE modem with up to 6x carrier aggregation can deliver up to 1.2 Gbps downlink and 200 Mbps uplink. The Exynos 9810 can also recognize people and items in photos accurately. It is also capable of realistic face-tracking filters and stronger security when using face detection to unlock the handset.
