Samsung seems to be cooking up a new mid-range series for its lineup, as speculations suggest that a Galaxy C lineup is currently in the works.

According to SamMobile, the latest out of South Korea suggests that Samsung is already doing final touches on one of the base models of a new mid-range lineup, the Galaxy C5. Allegedly, the Galaxy C5 will have a 5.2-inch display, and will replace the Galaxy A-series as the all-metal, mid-range lineup of the South Korea-based tech giant.

However, while the Galaxy C series of mid-range iterations feature an all-metal form factor, the specs for the different models will be based loosely on the current Galaxy A-series. For the Galaxy C5, the industry follower believes that it will feature a Snapdragon 617 SoC paired with 4 GB of RAM. Being a 2016 lineup release, the Galaxy C5 and the rest of the iterations are also believed to come out with Android 6.0.1 already pre-installed.

Meanwhile, Neowin suggests that the Galaxy C-series will be the new mid-range, budget-friendly models for the Samsung Galaxy family, as the Galaxy A models move up the design ladder. The newer Galaxy A iterations switched from an all-metal to a metal-and-glass body, similar to how the Galaxy S6 lineup is set up. Meanwhile, although the Galaxy C maintains an all-metal, entry-level construction, the industry observer said that its dimensions make for a slimmer, sleeker body profile.

According to PhoneArena, although Samsung has yet to officially declare the Galaxy C as part of the Samsung smartphone family, fans may already look forward to the announcement soon. The Galaxy C family, particularly the Galaxy C5 base model, has reportedly already made the benchmark websites, and it is said that certifications like the TENAA and FCC (is the series is bound for a global release) will follow soon.
