Samsung Gear S3 U.S. release date news 2016: T-Mobile to offer Gear S3 Frontier for $399

T-Mobile has confirmed that it will be offering the new Samsung Gear S3 Frontier wearable with a price tag of $399.

According to the announcement, the new flagship smartwatch will be available for T-Mobile subscribers starting Nov. 18. The mobile carrier's subscriber page has also been updated to include the new lineup. In the website, it is also revealed that current subscribers can also just add the new wearable as part of their T-Mobile plans, adding $5 per month to their current subscriptions.

It is already expected that the Gear S3 will make its way to the U.S. market, as the South Korea-based tech giant has already confirmed it months ago. However, it is good news to fans that the Gear S3 Frontier is included in the release since the wearable is an LTE-capable version. This means that with T-Mobile and other networks carrying the device, the Gear S3 Frontier has been certified for U.S. mobile LTE bands.

The Gear S3 Frontier has a 1.3-inch circular AMOLED display with 360x360 resolution and Corning's new Gorilla Glass SR+, a dual-core 1GHz Samsung Exynos chip, 768 MB of RAM and 4 GB of onboard storage. Aside from being LTE-supported, the top-tier variant also has IP68 water, wind and dust resistance certification, Bluetooth, and WiFi connectivity. It runs on Tizen Wearable OS 2.3.2.

With the step-up version being made available for U.S. mobile carriers, it is also expected that its base version, the Samsung Gear S3 Classic, will also launch for subscribers.

Meanwhile, aside from T-Mobile, it is also confirmed that other carriers are bound to feature the Samsung Gear S3 in their product lineups. Another carrier, AT&T, has also confirmed that the wearable will be available for their subscribers. It will have a price tag starting at $249. However, the operator has yet to come out with a release date for the Gear S3 on its subscription plans.
