The injuries are piling up for the San Diego Chargers and this time, a veteran piece of their offense was the one who went down as wide receiver Malcom Floyd sustained a shoulder injury in Monday's 22–19 defeat to the Chicago Bears.

According to the report by The San Diego Union-Tribune, a source revealed that Floyd sustained a torn labrum in his left shoulder, which was determined after a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) taken last Tuesday.

Floyd suffered the injury while trying to catch a pass from quarterback Philip Rivers which went out of bounds, ESPN reported.

The report added that Floyd stayed down for a few moments before being attended to by the Chargers staff, left the field, and was unable to return to the game.

For the 2015 season, Floyd has 21 catches for 409 yards and three touchdowns in nine games played.

The 34-year-old wide receiver will have the chance to surpass his numbers from the 2014 season if he would be cleared to play and return this 2015.

But Floyd already expressed before his intention of retiring from football once the 2015 season ends.

The former Wyoming Cowboy was an undrafted prospect entering the National Football League (NFL) in 2004 when he was signed by the Chargers and stayed with the organization for his entire professional career.

Last season, Floyd played a full season and had 52 receptions for 856 yards and six touchdowns.

The injury to Floyd is another setback for the Chargers who are looking at an early exit for the second consecutive season.

Before the injury to Floyd, San Diego already suffered a major loss in its receiving department as leading wide receiver Keenan Allen is expected to be out for the season with a kidney injury.

Now the Chargers will have to move forward with Floyd's status still undetermined, good thing they will be having their bye week this week before returning to action on Nov. 22 against the Kansas City Chiefs at home.
