'Scandal' season 5 spoilers, plot, and cast: Jake Ballard confirmed to reprise his role as Scott Foley

Scott Foley as Jake Ballard in ScandalABC

CelebDirtyLaundry previously reported that actor Scott Foley, who plays the character Jake Ballard in "Scandal," might not reprise his role in season 5 due to alleged on-set feuds with lead actress Kerry Washington. According to a new report, however, it has been revealed that Foley is indeed coming back for the season.

The initial report stated that Washington and Foley had issues on-set, with the former being a "take-charge" type of person and the latter a seasoned, veteran actor. Their opinions reportedly rubbed the wrong way and Washington's connections with series creator Shonda Rhimes might be why Ballard was stabbed in the season 4 finale.

However, according to a report from KDramaStars, Foley posted via Twitter his enthusiasm in seeing the rest of the cast and crew for the initial table reading for season 5.

"I heard they're getting the band back together tomorrow. #ScandaI," reads his initial tweet. This was later followed by a second tweet that reads, "Love seeing all the excitement on Twitter! Thanks #ScandaI peeps!"

Confirming his return was a post on Instagram by Joshua Malina, known as David Rosen in the series, showing Foley along with cast members Jeff Perry, Bellamy Young, and Tony Goldwyn for the aforementioned table read. It wasn't revealed just how many episodes the cast were reading as this could have revealed if Foley is going to stay for the entire season.

According to a report from the Latin Times, Foley had already reassured fans that he was returning for season 5 but did mention that his time on the show was nearing its end.

"Scandal" season 5 premieres this Sept. 24.
